On a chilly day in November, the Parelli team arrived fashionably late at Craig and Dalene Cameron’s Double Horn Ranch in Bluff Dale, Texas for an inside look at Team USA’s preparation for Road To The Horse 2012!
Craig and Dalene greeted us warmly and, gracious hosts that they were, they opened their home and ranch to our media crew. Under the leadership of Neil Pye (Director) and Stephen McCurry (Senior Producer), we broke the ice with interviews on the porch. We have learned that one needs to ensure the ‘talent’ – or cowboys in this case – are comfortable and relaxed; HD footage shares every eye movement, blink, and look of uneasiness or frown. Fortunately, Pat and Craig are old friends and soon were answering Neil’s questions with honesty, humility and banter back and forwards.
Next, we picked up the pace and Neil surprised ‘the boys’ to a roping, balance and horse challenge – this added real fun and spontaneity to the footage we captured.
We have an amazing amount of footage; way more than we needed for just one TV show, so we have created bonus footage that you can watch online. Pat and Craig both share rodeo careers – Craig as a bull rider and Pat as a bareback rider. As you watch, you will learn so much more about the men that are representing the USA at Road To The Horse this year.
Here’s Part One of “Road To Road To The Horse.” The entire program is available to watch on ParelliTube. Thank you Sue for sharing these videos of Pat and Craig. I have never seen Pat smile so much when remembering back to his youth and the Rodeo days. I felt excited for them as well. Was lovely to see how geniune and still so passionate both men are about there horsemanship and horses and want to share it with the world. I am an Aussi but I wish them all the best and it’s not about winning but winning the horses heart first.
Have fun guy’s!! Regards Fiona
As always, time well spent watching, listening, learning. Inspiration. Especially loved the final clip with the interview. Pat is becoming a sage – he is growing into the skin of his mentors – and luckily for horses and humans, so willing to keep on learning sharing learning sharing learning sharing.
Two of my favorite lines:
1) From Crag Cameron “When they started paying they started paying attention.”
2) From Pat, “You can’t help horses unless you can help humans”.
You guys should have yoga lessons with me everyday until the RTTH. Go Team USA
Thanks, Sue!! This is fun to watch!!
