Bio of Julie Payne

Howdy! My name is Julie Payne and I am an officer for the Austin Police Mounted Patrol unit in Austin, TX. I have been an officer for 14 years, and eight of those years I have been on mounted patrol. I have been practicing Parelli for three years and I am currently working in Level 3/4 with my wonderful quarter horse partner Ranger.

As you can guess, my first five years on mounted patrol was full on Force, Fear and Intimidation! What saddens me the most is how 99% of mounted police units still operate! They cannot – or will not – step away from the ingrained military style of riding. I want to change this! My goal is to become a Parelli Instructor so I can share Natural Horsemanship to other mounted police units.
